Charles M. Brown
A Bradenton native, Mr. Brown earned a degree in Mortuary Science from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. For many years Mr. Brown has owned and operated funeral homes in this area. Currently he and his family own and operate Brown & Sons in Bradenton. Mr. Brown was awarded the Manatee County Chamber's overall Small Business Person of the Year Award in 1991. Mr. Brown was a founding director of the bank.
Trevor R. Burgess
Mr. Burgess serves as CEO and Vice Chairman of the Bank's holding company, CBM Florida Holding Company. He began investing with Marcelo Faria de Lima in 2008. Prior to then, Mr. Burgess was a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley where he was an investment banker in New York, Los Angeles and London. At Morgan Stanley, he executed over 100 transactions raising over $50 billion for his clients. Earlier in his career he was a consultant at Michael Porter's Monitor Company in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He earned his bachelors degree from Dartmouth College in 1994. Mr. Burgess has served as a director since the change of control transaction was completed on December 3, 2009.
Brian D. Burghardt
A Detroit, Michigan native, Mr. Burghardt is a master electrician and former co-owner of P.D.G. Electric, an electrical contractor in Manatee County. After selling PDG he is now a private investor. Active in the Shrine and Masonic Lodge, he served as Chairman of the Child Development Center in Sarasota. His brother, Phillip L. Burghardt, is also a director of the Bank. Mr. Burghardt was a founding director of the bank.
Phillip L. Burghardt
Also a Detroit native, like his brother, Mr. Burghardt is a master electrician and former co-owner of P.D.G. Electric. After selling PDG, he is now a private investor. Mr. Burghardt served as director of the Manasota Industrial Council, the Manatee Chamber of Commerce, and on the Economic Development Council of the Chamber. Both Burghardts received the Manatee County Small Business-Person of the Year Award in 1989. Mr. Burghardt was a founding director of the bank.
Thomas H. Downs
Born in Findlay, Ohio, Mr. Downs graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University with a degree in liberal arts. He is the former President of Gator Asphalt Company, a leading asphalt producer and contractor on the Florida West Coast. Mr. Downs is a past Director of the National Asphalt Pavement Association and has served as a Director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Manatee and the Manatee Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Downs was a founding director of the bank.
Marcelo Faria de Lima
Mr. Lima is Chairman of the Bank's holding company, CBM Florida Holding Company. Mr. Lima is an international investor with interests in companies located in the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Turkey, Denmark and Russia employing over 6,000 people and generating sales of over $1 Billion. Mr. Lima started his career as a commercial banker working for ABN Amro Bank in Brazil and Chicago before working as an investment banker for Donaldson, Lubkin and Jenrette, Credit Suisse, and Garantia. He graduated from Ponteficia Universidade Catolica do Rio de Jeanerio in 1985. Mr. Lima has served as a director since the change of control transaction was completed on December 3, 2009.
Robert Glaser
Mr. Glaser is President & CEO of Smith & Associates Real Estate, one of Tampa Bay's largest and most successful real estate brokerage companies. Mr. Glaser has nearly 30 years of real estate experience and has a long history of serving the Tampa Bay community including as chair of the Morean Arts Center/Chihuly Collection. Mr. Glaser joined the Board in 2011.
Thomas A. Howze
A Bradenton native, Mr. Howze graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. After serving in the army, Mr. Howze established Howze Investment Company, a real estate development company. His company has been a leading developer of shopping centers, apartments and professional office buildings. Mr. Howze was a founding director of the bank.
Duane L. Moore
Born in Jefferson, Ohio, Mr. Moore moved to Bradenton as a child. After attending college studying veterinary science, Mr. Moore returned to operate his family's dairy business. He is President of Moore Dairy Farm, Inc., formed in 1970. He is active in the Manatee County Historical Society and serves on the Florida Feed Technical Committee of the Florida Department of Agriculture. Mr. Moore was a founding director of the bank.
Kathryn B. Pemble
Katie Pemble is President and director of Community Bank. A native Floridian, Pemble holds a finance degree from the University of Florida and has been actively involved in civic organizations throughout her career. She currently serves as treasurer and finance committee chair of Bayfront Health System, Inc., and is a member the American Heart Association (AHA) Tampa Bay Leadership Circle. She has served on the boards of the Pinellas Education Foundation, the Tampa Bay United Way, the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce and on the Executive Committee of the Tampa Bay Partnership. Katie is also a member of Leadership Florida. Ms. Pemble joined the Board in 2010.
Kenneth L. Schermer, M.D.
Born in Pekin, Illinois, Dr. Schermer received his B.S. and M.D. degrees from Indiana University. After residency training in Pathology in Indianapolis, he served for two years in the U. S. Navy at the rank of Lt. Commander. Dr. Schermer then came to Bradenton where he practiced Pathology for thirty years. During this time he was Medical Director of the Manatee County Blood Bank and an Associate Medical Examiner for Manatee County. Dr. Schermer was a Founder and a Director of L. W. Blake Memorial Hospital and served for two years on the Board of St. Stephens Episcopal School, being Chairman one year. Dr. Schermer has served as an Elder and Trustee of the First Presbyterian Church. He has extensive experience in banking and, now retired, remains active in community affairs. Dr. Schermer was a founding director of the bank.
William H. Sedgeman, Jr., Chairman & Chief Executive Officer
Born in Toledo, Ohio, Mr. Sedgeman graduated with a B.A. degree in 1964 from Harvard College and graduated in 1980 from the Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University. After serving in the United States Air Force with a rank of Captain, he came to Bradenton and embarked on his career in banking in 1971. In 1995 he founded Community Bank (his second start up bank) with nine other local business leaders that became the current board of directors. A thirty year banker in Bradenton, Mr. Sedgeman has served his community in many capacities that include Chairman of the Manatee Chamber of Commerce, past Chairman of the United Way, past President and current Director of the Florida West Coast Symphony, and served two terms as Chairman of the Manatee Economic Development Council. He currently serves on the Boards of Directors of the Florida West Coast Symphony and the Manatee County Girls Club, Inc. Foundation. Mr. Sedgeman was a founding director of the bank.
Thomas R. Sprenger, M.D.
Born in Seymour, IN, Dr. Sprenger received a B.S. degree from Marshall University and an M.D. degree from Indiana University. Dr. Sprenger, now retired, practiced orthopaedic surgery in Bradenton for thirty-seven years. Since retirement, Dr. Sprenger has completed outcome studies of hip and knee reconstructive procedures resulting in publication in major orthopaedic journals. In addition to his medical career, Dr. Sprenger had a thirty-five year Army National Guard career retiring as a Brigadier General of the Line in 1991. In 2005-6 Dr. Sprenger served as Hernando de Soto for the Hernando de Soto Historical Society. Dr. Sprenger was a founding director of the bank.
